Library Greeting | By Ria M. Libao and Irish May F. Wooden
Academic deans, faculty members, and research staff from various UC Academic Colleges and Departments gathered for a research capacity-building session spearheaded by the UC Libraries in partnership with the UC Research, Innovation and Institutional Planning Office, CE Logic, and Elsevier. The learning session was held at the UC Libraries on January 21, 2026.
The session is facilitated by Mr. Joshua Benjamin, Elsevier’s Customer Success Manager, who delivered practical guidance on strengthening academic manuscripts and navigating pathways toward successful scholarly publication.
A major highlight comes with a walkthrough of ScienceDirect, where participants explored techniques in locating high-quality, multidisciplinary literature and learned how to maximize the database as a strategic tool for both current and future research.
The initiative underscored the UC Libraries and its partner offices’ continuing commitment to nurturing a robust research culture while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthened academic capacities, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting research-driven innovation, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through sustained collaboration with institutional and international partners.
