June is National Dengue Awareness Month, established through Proclamation No. 1204, signed on April 21, 1998, by then-President Fidel V. Ramos.
Recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as a year-round health concern, dengue cases typically surge during the rainy season, when stagnant water creates ideal breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes—the primary carriers of the disease.
